Personal identifiers (IDs)

IDs enable the system of large citation databases to automatically establish correspondences between a published work and its author, which makes it possible to quickly find information about publications and citations of a scientist, to view his/her publication profile, to specify a reference to the author's data in various documents, including grant applications for participation in competitions.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Open Research Contributor ID is a unique identification number assigned to a scientist within the framework of the project of an open non-profit organisation, whose work is aimed at creating and maintaining a register of unique identifiers of researchers. The uniqueness of the registry lies in its independence from national boundaries and scientific disciplines. Its main task is to solve the problem of identifying scientists with matching first and last names and to establish a link between researchers and their work.

Scopus AuthorID – a unique numerical identifier of an author in the Scopus database, developed by Elsevier to solve the problem of linking authors to publications, which arises due to confusions with the coincidence of first and last names. It is formed automatically if there is one or more publications of the author in the publications indexed by Scopus database.
