How should an author promote his/her scientific publication?

The author should think about the promotion of the article even before its publication. Promotion is facilitated by the right choice of journal, as well as the use of various identifiers of the author and the article.

Personal page or blog allows the scientist to present information about himself and his scientific works.

DOI identifier makes it easier to find and cite an article.

Unique author identifier (ORCID, ResearcherID) helps to uniquely identify the author.

Professional social networks (ResearchGate, Google Scholar, Academia.edu) are useful for tracking citations of publications on the Internet.

Repositories and open electronic archives (arXiv.org, RePEc, bioRxiv) increase the availability and accessibility of scientific results, to get feedback from the scientific community before the article is published.

Bibliography management systems (Mendeley, Zotero) enable authors to share references to articles and receive prompt feedback.
